What is NILS?
The No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) provides individuals and families on low incomes with access to safe, fair and affordable credit. NILS is offered by more than 250 local community organisations in Australia, including DIVRS. We’re proud to offer loans from between $300 - $1200 to Darebin residents for essential goods and services such as white goods, car maintenance and medical procedures.
To be eligible for a loan you must:
- Be a Darebin resident.
- Hold a current health care card or be able to demonstrate that you live on a low income.
- Have a suitable need.
- Have the financial ability to repay the loan.
Repayments are made fortnightly over 12 months at an affordable amount. Repayments can be made using Centrepay - a free voluntary bill paying service which makes deductions from your Centrelink payments.
Loans cannot be used for cash, bond, rent arrears, debt consolidation, holidays or bills.
