The services within the Emergency Relief program recognises that people have the right to an adequate income to support themselves, and that an inability to do so may not be their fault and/or responsibility.

If you are experiencing financial stress or difficulties you may be eligible to for emergency assistance, including food parcels, fresh food and other types of support. During each Emergency relief session a trained Volunteer Community Support Workers will ask you some questions about your circumstances to help you get the assistance you may require.

Emergency relief is AVAILABLE Monday – THURSday 9.30 am – 12.30 pm

The Emergency Relief service is available for residents of the City of Darebin.  Proof of residence will be required.

Emergency relief program offers:

  • Food parcels - available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday- (Limited to one parcel per week)

  • Fresh Food - available Monday and Wednesday (each client can only access fresh food one day a week)

  • Bread - available Tuesday and Thursday

  • Telstra Vouchers

  • Phone Cards

  • Utility relief grant

*Resources listed can be limited and some require certain eligibility.

If you are having difficulty paying bills our staff can advocate on your behalf with your providers to set up a manageable payment plan or give good information to assist you to access support.

If you have forms to fill in and you are unsure of how to go about it, we may be able to assist you.

If you need someone to talk to for personal support, we can make an appointment with one of our professional counselling staff.

We are here to assist where we can, and if we cannot assist today we will helpfully refer you to an appropriate service.
