Low Income Loans
There is never enough money to go around. And then the fridge breaks down, or the car.
The No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) provides people on low incomes with safe, fair and affordable credit.
No interest. No fees. No charges.
DIVRS can help you apply for loans of up to $2000 for essential goods and services. Repayments are made fortnightly through Centrepay or other nominated source.
What can I use a NILs loan for?
Household items like appliances, whitegoods & furniture
Car repairs
Medical, dental, wellbeing and life event expenses
Technology like a phone, or tablet (up to $1000 limit) and all other electronic devices
Education expenses like fees or uniforms
Employment expenses like licenses or equipment
To be eligible for a loan you must:
Hold a current health care card or be able to show that you live on a low income
Have lived where you are now for at least three months (some exceptions apply)
Have a suitable need
Be able to repay the loan
Repayments are made fortnightly at an affordable amount. Repayments can be made using Centrepay - a free bill-paying service that makes deductions from your Centrelink payments.
Loans are paid directly to the supplier and can not be used to for cash, debt, food, bills or rent arrears.
If you work for an organisation that helps people on low incomes, please get in touch. We can send pamphlets or organise an information session.
